Mourilyan Mill

Mourilyan Sugar Mill, one of Australia's earliest, started construction in 1882 by the Mourilyan Sugar Company, opening in 1884 and becoming central to the community south of Innisfail, utilizing Kanaka, Chinese, and Anglo-Saxon labour for its early development and transport via tramway to Mourilyan Harbour. The mill processed sugar until destroyed by Cyclone Larry in 2006.
