Hambledon Mill

Hambledon Sugar Mill, established by Thomas Swallow in 1881 near Cairns, Queensland, was a pioneering sugar producer, commencing crushing in 1883 and becoming a vital local hub, known for its grand manager's residence and significant social role before being purchased by the CSR Company in 1897. After over a century of operation, including surviving cyclones and economic shifts, the mill ceased crushing in October 1991.
